Joint statement

Jumada2nd 16, 1425 H. August 2, 2004 A. D

In the name of the International Islamic Forum for Dialogue, and the Middle East Council of Churches, we express our great disquiet and pain toward the sinful attacks against a number of churches in Iraq, we stress such as detestable crimes serve none but the enemies of our nation and those who lie in wait to harm of its security, stability, sovereignty, and unity of peoples and their safe coexistence.

As we strongly condemn this ugly crimes against places of worship, worshipers, civilians and their life’s components, we stress that such as aggressions it are aggression against a sacredness of the Almighty God’s will, which has foreordained protection of the worship’s places and not to violate it, just as foreordained respecting and maintaining of the worshiper’s life those who supplicate to Almighty God in it.

And as we are expressing our sorrow, condolence and  solidarity with the victims and their dear relatives, we appeal upon rational and wise Muslims and Christians to hold spirit of wariness, attention, cooperation and solidarity to block the way in front of those who went to ignite fires of sedition among them, and to harm to sincerity of their unity and familiar coexistence which is well- known through the history.

We pray that may God, our Lord and Creator, whom we all worship him and who has no associate, to protect Iraq and his people from the evil of occupation, occupiers, oppression and oppressors, and to favor them and all oppressed people in the world peace, security, safety and a gracious coexistence.
