1. What is the status of non Muslim in Islam ?

Islam is consist of two main parts : Dogma and Law ( SHARIA ).

1.   Dogma represents the religious privacy of Muslim as every dogma represents the religious privacy  of any one .

Islam has decided this problem with non Muslim as side :

“ To you be your religion and to me my religion “

2.   Regarding Law ( SHARIA ) .

Law in Islam consists of two main parts :

The first part pertains to the persona affairs such as : Marriage , Divorce and Patrimony Etc .

Islam has also decided this problem with non Muslims as gave them the right to tackle their religious personal affair according to their religion’s rules .

The second part of Law pertains to common interests .

Concerning this part : Islam emphasis’s that Muslim and non Muslim are equal of interests without discrimination .

As above we think there is no problem of non Muslim in Islam .   

2.     How can we coordinate between versions of Holy KORAN which call to cordiality and good argumentation with people of book for instance ( and argue not with the people of the Scripture unless it be in that is better )  and anther versions which contrary with it such :

O, you who believe , Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you , and let them find harshness in you .

First of all we have to know that the actual understanding of any version in the Holy KORAN dos not be done unless through the understanding of all versions which are relevant to the same topic , and during the understanding of the common context of the supreme aims of the Holy KORAN , as well as during the understanding of the instructions of Prophet Mohammad Peace be open Him .

As that the Holy KORAN and the Prophet’s instructions are the base of the constitute of Islam , which is consist of the organizing lists of the life affairs such as :  financial list  , security list and military list Etc ..

 In light of the previous conditions  that is mentioned above we have to understand the version of fighting which is mentioned in the question as it is  a version at the military list in the constitute of Islam .

Now, the question that imposes itself is : Is there a military list at a constitute of any nation in the world requests from the soldiers to though the enemy by roses and basils or by rockets and all weapons of the mass destruction ?!

While the instructions at the military list in Islam forbid killing of Women , Children , Old men and Hermits , also prohibit cutting down the trees without necessity , pollution the water and any vital source for people , as well as military list in Islam ban killing of injurers , harming to dead bodies and following deserter as killing itself is not aim in military list in Islam , moreover Muslim fighter is requested to respect the dead bodies of the enemy and he has to bury it because the human soul is dignified for itself without discrimination .
