Excellency,
Ladies
and Gentlemen,
On
behalf of my colleagues in the International Islamic Forum for Dialogue ( IIFD )
based in Jeddah – Saudi Arabia , I would like to express my pleasure to
address this respectable great world gathering
In
1972 a big delegation of
senior scholars ,
thinkers and
jurists from
Saudi Arabia
held many meetings
with their
colleagues in
Paris , Strasbourg , The Vatican , Geneva and Tokyo .
We
in the International Islamic Forum for Dialogue have committed our selves to
build on that the historical initiative , as we became an International Body
aiming at dialogue affairs, and coordinate today among one hundred International
Islamic Organizations in the various fields of dialogue all over the world .
we
are Just coming from Rome , as an International Conference was arranged by our
colleagues in the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue in the Vatican
, attended by numerous spiritual and religious leaders from all the world , we
discussed the current situation in
the world and signed a Shared Commitment to Peace .
In
light of our resent meeting in the Vatican and our previous meetings during the
past thirty years , we can say
: a reasonable degree of
mutual respect and understanding among the religious leaders has been achieved ,
and I can now present to you some of the principles which became a subject of
agreement between various religious leaders such as :
1.
The cultural and religious diversity should encourage a
real coexistence among human societies .
2.
Believing in the unity of the human family affirms respect of the human
brotherhood .
3.
Proper utilization of the Earth’s resources , and establishing justice
are a religious duty and cultural requirement .
4.
Protecting the environment is our responsibility towards the present and
the future generations .
5.
Recognizing the equitable complementarity between man and woman in
carrying their responsibilities assuring our adherence to GOD’S will.
6.
The family based on the legal marriage between man and woman is the basis
for a safe and civilized society .
7.
Assuring that the religious and spiritual values are the essential source
to achieve a better life for human
family .
8.
Emphasizing that extremism and terrorism are contrary to the spirit of
religion , and we condemn all recourse to extremism and terrorism in the name
of religion .
9.
Assuring the right of self – defense ,
and refusing any linkage between self -defense and terrorism .
10.
Stressing
that the balance between the
advancement of the
sciences and technology
on the one
hand and
the religious
and ethical values on
the other is
a strong base
to maintain
human dignity, environment
and safe human coexistence .
11.
Emphasizing that the universality
without globalization is just hopes , on the other hand the globalization
without fair universality turns into vanity and destruction .
12.
Dialogue between cultures and civilizations is a religious duty ,
cultural requirement and necessity for safe coexistence among people
However,
we still think that the uncomfortable current world situation is mostly a result
of defect in
some sides of the three main
pillars of the human cultural structure :
1st
. Defect in the religious
conceptions.
2nd.
Defect in the economic conceptions.
3rd.
Defect in the political conceptions.
So,
It is our common duty to discuss and work together to correct this tri –
defect in pillars of human cultural procession.
In
this context let me suggest the following for achieving our joint goals :
1.
Establishing World
Council of
Religious , Economical and Political Leaders .
2.Task
of the Council is :
·
Discuss the conceptions ,
Principles and Values which are submitted by the three sides .
·
To
conclude draft world treaty .
·
Putting
mechanisms and doctrines for adopting
the world treaty .
Finally
, we in
the International Islamic
Forum for Dialogue emphasize
that religion is
against terrorism ,
aggression and
extremism , religion does not preach hatred and does not justify the
shedding of innocent blood .
Islam
considers that who kills one soul without legal justification as if he / she
killed all mankind , and who saved one person as if he / she saved all mankind .
For
that we address all those who kill or make war in God’s name : we remind them
that Peace is the name of God ,
it is contradiction to speak of “A
religious War “ .
We
also address all those who use weapons to establish their interests : We invite
them to reflect on their own responsibilities : we remind them that war is a
journey with no return , it always leaves behind it the sad heritage of
massacres , destruction and hatred , on other side we remind all, that the
honorable history of any nation – at the end – will be achieved by nice
words not by bullets .
O,
our distinguished colleagues we feel that world peace today is being threatened
by a huge fire , it is the duty of every one to pour at least one drop of
water to extinguish the fire ,
I hope we can do it .
